East India

Named for the entire eastern section of Queen Victoria’s British Empire, it is a cocktail of the British Raj. Barman Harry Johnson’s 1882 version originally uses pineapple syrup instead of raspberry, and another version use both.

East IndiaEast India Cocktail

3 oz Brandy
1/8 oz orange curacao
1/8 oz maraschino liqueur
1 tbsp raspberry preserves
1 dash Angostura Bitters

Shake vigorously with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with cocktail cherry.
