This cocktail is from the actual Hotel Nacional de Cuba, in Havana. It opened in 1930, after which Americans, including Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Marlon Brando and Ernest Hemingway, sought regular visits and probably imbibed this cocktail.
2 ounces añejo rum
1/4 ounce apricot liqueur
1 ounce pineapple juice
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
1 pineapple slice or lime wedge, for garnish
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake hard and strain into a 4 – 5 oz cocktail glass.
