Once a upon a time, there was an actress named Mamie Taylor and a cocktail by the same name at the turn of the twentieth century. This drink was widely popular from 1899 – 1902 and was mention in news papers, jokes after a Broadway singer / actress.
Mamie sang light opera and is said to help invent the drink but both disappeared into obscurity and almost forgotten until the resurgence of the craft cocktail movement. I’ve introduced to friends and bartenders and it’s a winner, with only a few ingredients that can easily be made for your next party.
1 1/2 oz Scotch Whiskey
Juice of half a lime
4 – 5 oz of Ginger ale or Ginger Beer.
Build with ice in a highball glass
Pour the Scotch and lime juice into an ice-filled 8 ounce highball glass and fill with ginger ale. Stir and garnish with a lime wedge.
