To have Tequila or not, that is the question! Some love it and some have had bad experiences with it. You will have a refreshing taste minus the harshness or hangover when made with top shelf quality ingredients. This tequila based drink that has a touch of Italian in it is called the Il Diavalo. Created by Ted Kilgore at the Monarch restaurant in St. Louis. He tweaked an old Trader Vic Cocktail called El Diablo, including an Italian soft drink called Chinotto pronounced Key-Naw-toh that it is topped off with that you can find at your local Italian grocer or places like whole foods.
2 oz Blanco Tequila
1/4 oz. Fresh lime juice
1 – 2 tsp Cream de Casssis
3 – 4 oz. Chinotto soda
Build in a highball glass with ice and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of orange.
