The Clover Club cocktail is named after a boisterous group that met at the Bellevue Stratford hotel in Philadelphia from the 1880’s through World War I. The cocktail didn’t catch on outside of Philadelphia until 1910 when it was reported popular in New York. This version was served at the old Waldorf-Astoria in New York, which was torn down to make way for the Empire State Building.
