When the Angels flight in Downtown Los Angeles re-opened in 2010 on 4th and Hill directly across from Grand Central Market, I came up Angles Flight Cocktail to celebrate its 109th anniversary I crafted a cocktail that would have been enjoyed by those living in 1901 as well as today. It’s made up of ingredients that would have been fancied in drinks at the turn of the century and can be made at home or in some of the craft cocktail lounges in Downtown Los Angeles if you give them this recipe.
Angles Flight Cocktail
1 1/2 oz Rye Whiskey (Rittenhouse Rye 100 proof)
1/2 teaspoon Absinthe
1 oz of fresh squeezed orange juice
1/2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz Cointreau
1 teaspoon powdered sugar or 1/2 oz simple syrup
1 egg white
Place ingredients in a cocktail shaker without ice, shake for 15 seconds to create a dry shake. Add ice then shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
