Flower of Paradise

Alfred Apaka album coverCreated by John Apodaca of Daddy-O’s Martinis in the summer of 2012 while listening to the song Flower of Paradise by famed Hawaiian singer Alfred Apaka.  I got the inspiration to come up with a new tiki cocktail using traditional ingredients used in most vintage style tropical drinks.  This a cool and refreshing drink in the summer or anytime of year.

Flower of Paradise

1 1/2 oz medium (gold) rum
3/4 oz Demerara 151 proof rum from Gianna
1 oz fresh pineapple juice
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz cinnamon syrup
1/2 oz orgeat (almond syrup)
1/2 oz simple syrup

Shake all ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker and strain into a chilled Collins glass filled with crushed ice.  Garnish with an edible flower.
